Mediation

Mediation Theory derives from a belief that working out differences peacefully and rationally leads to better decisions, more workable solutions and generally better health. Philosophically I am committed to working towards a more peaceful world which starts with positive efforts of conflict resolution in the smallest of interactions in our homes and neighborhoods and not between countries. The more we are able to apply ourselves to peaceful settlements, the better we can all live and flourish.

Mediation is a method of resolving conflict through the use of a third person
– a neutral,  trained professional who guides the process toward solutions where there used to be stalemates.

Mediation in a confidential, private setting provides safety
and the space to settle differences and make decisions based on informed choices.

The mediator does not make the decisions – you do. You do not lose control of the process (as often happens in court), can express yourself and be heard. You get to see all the issues laid out which helps you reach easier settlements.

Mediation creates a level field for negotiation. It recognizes the need for all parties to be equal in the search for solutions, and in examining needs. This equality of participants makes for better, more effective agreements.

Mediation is cost effective. It takes less time than attorney settled conflict and the usual cost is $250 per hour. It typically takes  3 to 12 hours to reach agreement. This cost being shared by two reduces the charge even further.

Mediation offers win/win solutions. There is no reason why participants can’t settle a problem and have an agreement that feels right to both parties. Mediators always work toward fair and equitable solutions.

If one is looking for separation or divorce mediation, we can lay out all of what you will need to create a document ready for legal review and once written in legal language it can be filed with the court by an attorney.
